We Believe

San Diego Teacher Residency (SDTR) prepares teachers to educate for justice and deeper learning. We believe that all children deserve a space where they can bring their full selves and develop as curious, critical, and creative humans. Public school classrooms have enormous potential to become such spaces — and SDTR is part of the movement to make the transformation happen, one new teacher at a time.

Our Program

As an SDTR resident, you will earn a California teaching credential and a Master’s in Teaching & Learning. In year 1 you will take courses with your cohort and spend four days a week student-teaching alongside a skilled mentor at one of High Tech High’s 16 K-12 schools. In year 2 you will extend your learning, completing your degree while fully employed. First-year residents of our teacher residency program receive an $8,000 stipend in addition to federal aid.
